check out my site :)
  • hey i am just wondering could u check out my blog and give feedback :)

  • Very nice. You could clear away the bullets in the last comments list by adding "list-style:none;" to your  last-comments class.
  • Thanks :) Where do i add list-style:none; as i am really new to all this php thing lol :)
  • Stephen,

    Easiest way for you to do it is to add it in your fp-plugins/lastcomments/plugin.lastcomments.php file. On line 28 it should read:

    $content = '<ul class="last-comments">';

    Change this to read:

    $content = '<ul class="last-comments" style="list-style:none;">';

    P.S. there's something else going on with your header div getting shifted to the right as compared to the container div below it. I don't know if this is an error in the original theme, or if it's crept in somehow.

  • I see what's wrong with your header now - your image is just a bit wider than the header div.

    If you change your header to show the following it will look a lot better:

    <img src="http://stephentaylor.x10.mx/fp-interface/themes/esh/esh/imgs/cooltext770736989.png" width="700" height="87" alt="Stephen Taylors Blog">

    Also, instead of just doing what I suggested above to get rid of the bullets next to your last comments, you want to consider removing all of the bullets in the right column by editing your fp-interface/themes/esh/esh/res/style.css file.

    Scroll down to the sidebar section near the end of that stylesheet and amend the #sidebar ul part to read as follows and it "should" get rid of them all.

    #sidebar ul { margin: 0 0 0 1em; list-style:none;}

  • Ok tell me what you think have i fixed everything :) and thank you sooo much i dont think i would be able to do half of this without your help. :)
  • Looks great. I'm not certain but did you add the list-style: none against #sidebar li ul instead of the one above it (#sidebar ul)? To get rid of the bullets you need to make the change on that line. The bullet next to the search box looks particularly ugly :p
  • they dont seem to go ive changed it to { margin: 0 0 0 1em; list-style:none;}
  • Maybe I'm looking at a cached version of the stylesheet but are you sure that change has been made on your live version and not just a local version?

    This is what I can see in your stylesheet:

    /* ===== SIDEBAR ===== */
    #sidebar {
    float: right;
    font-size: 0.813em;
    padding: 20px 0;
    width: 180px; }

    #sidebar div { margin: 0 0 1em 0; }

     #sidebar ul { margin: 0 0 0 1em; }  <-- add "list-style:none;" here

    #sidebar li ul { list-style-type: none; }

    As a temporary solution just try adding this to your header template, just above the closing </head> tag:

    <style type="text/css">
    #sidebar ul {
    list-style:none;
    }
    </style>

  • ive added it but it seems not to work heres how it looks #sidebar ul {list-style:none;}
  • i just restarted my browser and it worked :) oh just to confirm to make sure i have not messed anything up i deleted { margin: 0 0 0 1em; } from #sidebar ul and added list-style:none;  instead.
    so was that right. if so it seems to of worked lol and your right it does look nicer :)

  • Looks good Stephen. I just noticed that your theme allows you to position your menu at the top - if you go into the widget panel you should be able to drag and drop the menu to the menubar position to display it up there rather than down the side.

    Other than that I would remove the admin widget from the side column - you can either just type login.php (if you're not logged in), or jump straight into the admin area by clicking an edit link on one of your posts (if you are logged in) and, if you're feeling adventurous, you might like to examine my scrolling last entries plugin and see if you could convert your last comments plugin to do the same. It'd save a lot of room.

    Personally I don't like the search widget showing either so I sometimes hide it and just add a link the seacrh.php in my main menu. I never use the archives widget either - it just serves to remind people how infrequently I post to my blog, making it look old and neglected.

  • Ok i have been playing around and i love that drag and drop tool :). I have managed to move loads of things around and it looks much better. I also looked at your plugin and it would be really cool and perfect for my blog. I will play around with it.
  • Looks cool! Sorry about your cat :(
