    if the hyperlink style for the entire body is defined in the style.css file (in the body tag)
    is there a way to change that link style for a specific link?

    for example, the code
    <a href="..." class="...">
    would not work, because the global style overwrites it.

    globals.css contains only colors for notifications (at least in leggero SVN), so I assume you are talking about common.css

    CSSs are parsed by your browser as they are so one declaration must follow the other; links are define in common.css as

    a:link, a:visited {
    color: #aa4142;
    font-weight: bold;
    text-decoration: none
    }

    a:hover {
    color: #c37676;
    text-decoration: underline
    }

    if you want to style also a particular class, just add some declarations using,

    a.my-class-name:link, a.my-class-name:visited, a.my-class-name:hover

    for instance, for a blue link:

    a.my-class-name:link {
    color: blue;
    }

    bye
