I see that Wordpress 3.0 is being made.
I was wondering if there is going to be a new version of Flatpress released.

Ahh... they're finally catching up, at last :D

I just looked through the features in WP 3.0 - it all sounds very complicated to me, but maybe there are a few ideas there which might interest the clever people enough to write a plug-in, or three.

Personally I like FP just the way it is. The only improvements I would make are probably all achievable by editing theme templates and through plugins, which is how it should be. The only feature I would like to see (but, again, this is a plugin) is something like Elastic, the WP visual theme editor - but WP3 seems to have gone for the core theme/child theme route because, as they say, new FULL themes are a bit heavier than they need to be. Providing some option for FlatPress web masters to tweak a core theme by changing the fonts, coloUrs and background images - and saving them to a child theme CSS sheet all within the FlatPress admin panel itself, would be great. Something like this colour schemer would be neat! Then we could give our users the choice of which colour scheme they prefer using a theme switcher.

I'd also love to see some in-built way for site visitors to select which language they'd like to use - rather than get what the FP web master gives them. I don't mean giving us the ability to easily create multi-lingual content so much (but wouldn't that be awesome?), just the interface tags so they can see the menus, labels & messages in their own language.

And a site membership plugin, based on something like Simple PHP Mailing List would be a super-cool summer present, please! (though some sort of single sign-on with this (Vanilla) forum might be an interesting avenue to explore... maybe... to help build up the community and promote FP a bit more)

I'd like to release the version you can already download from SVN soon, I can't say when right now, maybe before the end of July, but I can't assure anything
